Friendship Center’s mission is to offer engaging activities that promote socialization, wellbeing, and a sense of community for aging adults. Friendship Center is the only non-profit adult day services program providing affordable services of its kind that serves south Santa Barbara County, with locations in Goleta and Montecito. Available positions:

Advancement and Project Manager


Full Time- 35 hours/wk.  (May work up to 40 hours during peak times)

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Advancement and Project Manager (APM) is responsible for coordinating project management activities as outlined by the Board of Directors and various committees, such as supporting expansion of programs and other activities. In addition, the APM will be responsible for securing new funding which will include grants through corporations, service organizations and other funding sources, and leading fundraising events and activities. We are looking for a team player with supervisory experience and excellent organizational and time management skills.

ADVANCEMENT ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Oversees the completion of grants and reports; adheres to all compliance and procedures. Raises money from private, government granting sources; assists with fundraising events, and donor appreciation gatherings; prepares budgets by researching and compiling information in relation to the Center’s mission.

PROJECT ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Coordinates project management activities, resources, equipment and information; participates in committee meetings and assists with setting agenda, and identifies and defines requirements, scope and objectives; breaks project into doable actions and set timeframes; assign tasks to internal teams and assists with schedule managements; analyze risks and opportunities; oversees project procurement and management of assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree in business or related field

Or

  1. 2. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communication or a related field from four-year college or university; a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience with writing grant proposals. Strong computer skills required. Project management experience is desirable. Valid California Driver’s License.
  2. Experience in gerontology desirable
  3. Supervisory experience desirable.
  4. Computer literacy and Familiar with Word, Excel, donor perfect, e-mail- Outlook, and power point programs.
  5. Excellent writing and communication skills and good with numbers and budgets.
  6. Proven work experience as a Project/Planning Coordinator or similar role
  7. Be able to use diplomacy, discretion, and strong client-facing and team work skills.

Prefer experience working with older adults and or caregivers, or experience with those with differing abilities; strong management/supervision experience preferred. Fingerprint clearance, CPR/First Aid required; proof of California automobile insurance.

Program Specialist Full-time (Montecito)

We are searching for kind, fun, enthusiastic, talented activities and program specialists to work with our adult day program participants in our centers in Montecito and Goleta serving those with dementia and developmental disabilities.

Program Specialists assist in developing, planning, and leading fun program activities for our members. They perform a variety of functions related to the overall operation of our centers including assisting with  activities like musical entertainment and sing-alongs, outings, food service, and special events. Assistance with personal care including bathrooming, companionship, and some maintenance and cleaning are also required.

Ideal program specialists are compassionate individuals who enjoy working with older adults, have positive and effective communication skills, work well with other staff, members, volunteers, and families, have a can-do attitude, and pitch in to do whatever is needed.

Requirements include First Aid and CPR certification, physical exam and TB clearance, a clean driving record, valid driver’s license and insurance, and fingerprint clearance. Experience caring for elders or those with disabilities preferred.

This position works up to 35 hours per week at our Montecito location, varying between 8am and 5pm Monday-Friday, no nights and no weekends. Must be open to occasional shifts at Goleta location.

Salary range $15 – $16, DOE.
