Esther is a proud native “Santa Barbarian,” and her early years were filled with adventure—riding horses, teaching riding lessons, and guiding trail rides at the San Ysidro Ranch.

After earning her teaching credential from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, she taught Kindergarten through 2nd grade at a country school in Paradise Camp. Her career then took her to South and North Carolina, where she managed a large childcare program, taught children with disabilities, and assisted with physical and occupational therapy through Easter Seals Programs.

Returning to Santa Barbara, Esther taught in Carpinteria and raised her now-grown daughter. Friendship Center holds a special place in her heart, as her father attended when diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Having worked a Friendship Center since 1992, Esther feels that her work is her mission and feels incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by amazing people and a day full of joy and Universal Good!
