SAFE & WELCOMING SETTINGS
FUN, FUN, FUN!
Enjoying social activities in the welcoming and safe settings of Friendship Center can greatly enhance a senior’s quality of life, promote self-esteem, and increase ability to continue living at home.
Most of our members are seniors living with physical or cognitive disabilities, such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia who require companionship and stimulating activities. We also serve adults who may be socially isolated and feel more comfortable in a social and supportive setting.
With two locations, one in Goleta and one in Montecito, we offer programs that focus on our members’ strengths, experiences, and knowledge, rather than their limitations, while accommodating the current reality of their abilities.
Our caring, compassionate staff is highly trained in senior memory care. Our philosophy of care addresses each one’s individual needs, with the utmost attention to safety, contented engagement, and aging with dignity. We regard our members as if they were our own loving family.

Social activities are the core of our programs. They include:

- – reminiscence groups
- – gardening
- – bingo/loteria
- – Joyful Movement

- – veterans group
- – holiday and birthday celebrations.
Our staff Program Specialists engage our members in mentally stimulating activities such as Jeopardy and other games, trivia, and crossword puzzles. We also offer current events discussion groups to help to keep our members in touch with what’s going on in the world today.
These include visits from All Saints pre-school children and students from other area schools. Our GOLD Project affords the opportunity for members to visit 2nd grade classrooms for conversations about life that connect across generations. This program concentrates on members’ long-term memories and remaining abilities, often providing comfort to those with dementia.
Let’s Go! is a weekly excursion program at the Goleta Center, a chance for small groups of members to get out and about, accompanied by a staff member and volunteer on one of our vans. They might visit a museum or other attraction, or just enjoy a sight-seeing drive along the coast on a beautiful day.
In addition, short walks are offered weekly at both locations for our members who are physically able. Just a little way down the road from our Montecito Center is Miramar Beach, were these outings provide a invigorating breath of salt air! And in Goleta, the group walks in the tranquil neighborhood around the Center or at a nearby shopping center.
